My heart dropped into my stomach
into the pit of my stomach
I felt rejected
“nothing new,”
I reminded myself.
I sat
weeping
replayed the events over in my mind
pondering
why was my reaction so sorrow ridden.
Still
I surrendered to the quiet
spoke with God
still
I pled for answers to the unknowns.

The scent of love, carried in the wind, whisked through my open window,
beckoned me to play.
Unwilling to sacrifice my heart again, I pushed love out,
closed the window.
Challenging love’s faithfulness,
I secretly prayed for its relentless return.
Each night, the scent lingered outside,
patiently awaiting my embrace.
Love promised trust, honesty, loyalty, affection, acceptance,
to fill me complete,
my strongest desire was to believe,
to feel, to know, love.
Slowly, I opened the window,
using His strength to lift the heaviness off my closed heart,
and allowed love to settle,
to no longer be carried in the wind.

Fragrant, bitter;
biased, to torture my soul
No weakling has a better home
than under the control of my reign
The fool, only the wicked would claim
not to pity
And I sit, passively drifting,
connecting knowledge to growth

A memory of strength
slowly becomes my reality,
Days are manageable
nights are restful,
Remembering all I’ve overcome
inspires me to keep moving,
Stagnant air permeates deceit
growth is what I need to breathe,
Friendships, love, healing
appreciating the gift of life.

lifts my spirits,

sense, and
determination,

Before your vile poison flowed through my veins
So quick to bite, you preyed
Desperately longing to be desired, I offered my flesh,
A natural affair, or so it seemed
An occurrence I had long awaited
Spent my nights dreaming of you

Swayed by your charm
Lured by empty promises
Insecurities fell at my feet

A tragic tale of sickened love

keeps sleep bound.

slithers closer to dawn.

deep within her body,
builds with anticipation as eyes focus.
Words,
crafted with her in mind,
glimmer, sparkle with life.
The life,
She lives and provides, the light,
The hope, the constant care.

two in love, perfectly matched,
suited to frame the beauty of souls.

An instance of pure nostalgia,
a sudden shift in mood,
Doubt, fear, and anger
flood my thoughts,
A moment on cloud nine
ruined by my own disbelief,
Questions run through my mind,
my heart races in predetermined pain,
Tears shed for the day
he’ll break my heart.
Nothing can ever be enough,
no one will ever be enough,
I turn away from depth,
this risk I’ll take,
Living each day killing my self
one thought at a time,
